Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami,
Florida on November 30 1977. American electro-house musician and record
producer. D.J. Music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru and Rocky
Aoki's children. His father was a former wrestler and also helped to start the
restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older siblings, a sister Kana (who is
sometimes referred to Grace, her middle name) Grace) and brother Kevin (owner
of the Doraku Sushi restaurant). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and actress.
He was born in Newport Beach, California and graduated from Newport Harbor High
School, which was where he played as a member of the club that played varsity
badminton. He attended UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd B.A. degrees,
one in feminist studies and the other in sociology. In the college years, he
made self-made records and hosted underground music events out of his Biko room
at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The venue was used for
concerts, and the apartment became known as The Pickle Patch. He was also
involved in student activities at UCSB, being the founder of a Revolutionary
Anti-Imperialist League chapter on campus. In his early 20s Dim Mak was
establishing his own record company, that he named Dim Mak after his childhood
hero Bruce Lee. In March of 2010 the singer came out with I'm in the House, a
collaboration with the Zuper Blahq-alter-ego of The Black Eyed Peas singer
will.i.am. It hit No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in the very first week of
its release. The song was ranked in the top 5 in both the U.K. Indie Chart and
the U.K. Dance Chart. The song was featured in an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore
as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A
Man. Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a May 2010 interview w/
HitQuarters that he & Rivers Cuomo had recently worked with Aoki on a
single. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the top dance artist in terms of
revenue in North America from tours. He has worked with many artists like
Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182,
Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out
Boy. He is known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi.
